Fluoride is a chemical compound often used, in topical and systemic fluoride therapy, for preventing tooth decay. It is actively used for fluoridation of water and found in many oral hygiene products. The commonly used additives in the United States of America (USA) include hexafluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) and sodium hexafluorosilicate (Na2SiF6) apart from sodium fluoride (NaF).
